People across Brunei Darussalam flocked to the historic Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien in the capital to celebrate the 31st National Day which is filled with pride. The celebration saw the Grand Assembly involving the participation of almost 30,000 people in the morning. Since independence Brunei has grown form strength to strength in forging national identity and progress in national development.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, this afternoon consented to receive in audience the outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send a message of congratulations to the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, His Excellency U Thein Sein as well as the Government and people of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on the occasion of the country's Independence Day.

  

  

  

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam,in a titah, emphasises that an enhanced education at the early level is key to educational success at the subsequent level. This includes improving the level of expertise at the national level which is benchmarked against international standard.

  

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send a congratulatory message to the Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency Shinzo Abe, on the occasion of the victory of the Liberal Democratic Party in Japan's recent General Elections.

  

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam left Busan, Republic of Korea after attending the two-day ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit which began yesterday.

  

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam left Seoul yesterday morning after concluding a three-day State Visit to the Republic of Korea. Prior to leaving the Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel, a Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr.) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday afternoon consented to present Letter of Credence to Brunei Darussalam's newly-appointed Permanent Representative of Brunei Darussalam to GENEVA, Switzerland..

  

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, expressed his appreciation for the personal commitment of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al-Said in strengthening the long-standing ties and brotherly relations between the two countries.

His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel consented to take part in the championship organised by he Brunei Amateur Swimming Association. The championship took place this afternoon at National Swimming Pool, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

  

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam, has consented to watch the Brunei Open Swimming Championship. His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel yesterday afternoon consented to take part in the championship organised by the Brunei Amateur Swimming Association.

  

His Majesty in his titah emphasised that it is imperative that ASEAN build a community that is meaningful to the ASEAN peoples, one in which they can relate to and benefit from. The ASEAN people, His Majesty added, must be central in the agenda of the community pillars. To do this, requires ASEAN to clarify what 'People-Centred' really means.
